But don’t worry if you can’t find one – yarn or craft rope would make excellent substitutes, offering a unique texture and look that adds to the gnome’s whimsical charm.

Make a Winter Mitten Wreath with Paper
As the holiday season comes to a close, do you find yourself lingering on the festive atmosphere by leaving up your Christmas decorations for a bit longer? I know I do! In recent years, I’ve opted to go with the flow and incorporate year-round winter decor into my home. This blend of holiday-specific and general winter elements has resulted in a cozy and inviting atmosphere that extends far beyond December 25th.
One of my favorite winter crafts is the mitten wreath – it’s the perfect representation of the season, don’t you think? Not only does it symbolize warmth and coziness, but it’s also a great activity to enjoy with kids. You can use their handprints as a template for the mitten sizes, just like I did when my 13-year-old daughter helped me make one – it turns out our hands are surprisingly similar!
By adding a simple red cross-stitch pattern, this wreath transforms into a charming holiday decoration that’s versatile enough to be displayed throughout the winter months. Whether you’re looking for a unique centerpiece or a thoughtful gift, this mitten wreath is sure to bring warmth and joy to your home.
No-Sew Sock Snowman Craft for Tweens
Transforming mismatched socks into a charming handmade gift or unique doorstop has never been more fun! This no-sew sock snowman craft is an innovative way to repurpose those elusive single socks. Start by selecting a white sock, as the black sock is used in a different tutorial with similar steps. To begin, fill the white sock with rice – you might be surprised at how much it can hold.
Once your sock snowman reaches the desired size, use a rubber band to seal the top and another to cinch the sock near the top, forming the head. Next, add some personality to your snowman by attaching buttons using a glue gun or glue dots for the eyes and mouth. Alternatively, draw these features with a black marker or paint. For a rosy touch, use washable paint on the cheeks. Combine two orange pom-poms for the nose – it adds a delightful touch.
To complete the look, add a scarf made from a ribbon. We recommend using glue dots or a glue gun as the most effective adhesives. You can trim any excess white sock or tuck it into the hat, which we’ll create next. The hat is simply created by cutting a colored sock (excluding the heel part), rolling it slightly, and placing it on your snowman’s head. Secure it with glue if desired, leaving it loose for a relaxed look. Your delightful sock snowman is now complete and ready to be displayed.
