Dyson Animal vs. Dyson All Floor – What’s the Difference?

When someone says ‘high-quality vacuum cleaner’, there are several manufacturers that come to mind right away. Surely, a Dyson vacuum has to be among them. Since the ’80s, when Dyson first started, they have produced excellent products which made a name for themselves. It took Dyson nearly 20 years to build this reputation and earn the trust of their customers. Today, Dyson keeps manufacturing powerful, uniquely designed vacuums, and they have several series and multiple models.

We admit that it can be difficult to figure out the characteristics of each Dyson model and see which one would fit your needs best. Do you need an upright vacuum or a handheld one? What is the most important feature you are looking for? These are some things you need to determine. But we can help you pinpoint the similarities and differences between some of the models. We chose to compare two of Dyson’s most popular models – Dyson Animal and Dyson All Floor. If you are interested in seeing whether one or the other model may suit your preferences, just watch this video.

How Does a Dyson Vacuum Work?

Before we jump into comparing and contrasting, let us see what makes Dyson models so unique and popular. Since they first appeared on the market, Dyson brought many innovations to the vacuum industry. For example, a bagless vacuum was one of their ideas. Many people accepted it with a positive attitude. Bagless vacuum means no bags to spend money on and no polluting of the environment. Dyson’s dirt container design meant easy and quick emptying and a simplified maintenance process for the customers.

Another interesting technology Dyson introduced is Ball technology. If you have not already heard about it, this is why Dyson vacuums are easy to maneuver around furniture and other obstacles.

And finally, what actually makes Dyson stay in the top of the vacuum industry for quite some time is the fact that their units have a fantastic and powerful suction, which has little to no competition on the market. Yes, there are other powerful vacuums out there, but if you need a vacuum for pet hair, you cannot go wrong with a Dyson.

Now that we have seen how Dyson differs from other manufacturers out there, let us take a closer look at the two Dyson series we are going to discuss further.

The Dyson All Floor Vacuum

First up, the Dyson All Floor vacuum is just one of the types of series that Dyson came out with. It was introduced with the DS07 series, and the All Floor model has a name that says pretty much everything. This vacuum works great on various surfaces. Whether you have bare hardwood or laminate flooring, or you have a few area rugs in your home, you can count on it to clean them. It works even on low to high pile carpeting, so if you go with this option you should be happy with the results. As all Dyson upright vacuums, this one is bagless as well. It also features Dyson’s Ball technology, so it is easy to maneuver. These are all the most important features of the Dyson All Floor vacuum.

The Dyson Animal Vacuum

On the other hand, we have the Dyson Animal vacuum model. This vacuum is also upright and introduced with the same DS 07 series as the All Floor model. Since the name is Animal, you can assume that this is a great vacuum for pet hair. This model is also an upright vacuum and it shares some similarities to the previous model we mentioned. Besides being upright, it also features powerful suction and the Ball technology for easier maneuvering. But there is on important distinction we have to make and it is in the tools included. The Animal model comes with a mini turbine head tool, specially designed for getting rid of pet hair. This makes this vacuum model even better for pet owners than the previous one.

Here is a video description of some Animal models on the market, so you can take a look for yourself:

The Dyson Animal vs The Dyson All Floor

Now that we covered the basic information about both models, here is what we noticed when it comes to some similarities and differences.

Firstly, and most importantly, both of these models have enough power to pick up pet hair. Their suction is great, but the Animal model has a slightly more powerful suction that the All Floor model. Considering that it also comes with a mini turbine head for pet hair, we would say that the Animal model is definitely better for cleaning pet hair. However, the All Floor model can also do the job, and since both models have the HEPA filter, they are great for allergy sufferers.

Next, both of these vacuums are heavy-duty upright models with a lot of power, so do not expect a flimsy, lightweight model if you choose any of these two. Also, they are both bagless, which is great if you are eco-friendly and do not want to spend money on replacement bags.

When it comes to design, the Animal models are purple, and the All Floor is yellow, so if this is something important to you when you are making the decision, now you know.

Another important thing you need to look at is the portability of the unit. Yes, we said that both units are not what you would call a lightweight vacuum, but they are corded, so you need to keep in mind the cord length. As for the length, we would say it is satisfactory in both models, but the Animal models tend to have a couple of more feet that you may find useful.

As you can see, the differences between the Dyson Animal and All Floor models are not huge, but there are some of them you should keep in mind. If you are a pet owner, you probably struggle with fur and pet hair, so the Animal model may be a better choice for you.

On the other hand, if you like a versatile tool which can clean various surfaces, the All Floor model may be the perfect match. After you determine your needs and wants, you will decide between these two models much easier.
